Reiki is a form of energy healing that originated in Japan in the early 20th century, developed by Mikao Usui. The word "Reiki" comes from two Japanese words: "Rei," meaning "universal," and "Ki," meaning "life force energy." It is based on the belief that this universal life force energy flows through all living things, and when it becomes blocked or imbalanced, it can cause physical, emotional, or spiritual issues.
During a Reiki session, I will lightly place my hands on or just above the client's body in various positions. The goal is to channel healing energy into the body to promote relaxation, reduce stress, and support the body's natural healing processes. Reiki is often used to help with pain relief, emotional healing, and overall well-being.
One of the key principles of Reiki is that the energy is directed by the practitioner’s hands but is ultimately guided by the body’s needs. It is considered a non-invasive and holistic therapy that works on the mind, body, and spirit. It is practiced worldwide and is often used in conjunction with other forms of treatment.
Those under stress or anxiety – Reiki helps induce relaxation and calmness, reducing stress and anxiety levels.
People with chronic pain – Individuals experiencing pain, such as from conditions like arthritis, fibromyalgia, or migraines, may find relief through Reiki as it can promote relaxation and possibly improve pain management.
Those recovering from illness or surgery – Reiki can assist in the healing process by improving energy flow, boosting the immune system, and reducing recovery time.
Individuals with sleep issues – Reiki’s calming effect can help promote better sleep by addressing imbalances in energy and fostering a deep sense of relaxation.
Those seeking emotional healing – Reiki can help release blocked emotions, reduce negative thought patterns, and support emotional well-being.
People with a spiritual interest – Many individuals use Reiki as a tool for spiritual growth and self-awareness, as it may help with meditation and connecting to inner peace.
Anyone seeking personal growth – Reiki can support mental clarity, focus, and a deeper sense of overall well-being.
Athletes – Reiki may help with recovery from intense workouts or sports-related injuries by reducing inflammation and improving circulation.
Initial Consultation: I will ask about your health, concerns, or any specific areas of your body that you want to focus on. This helps me to understand your needs and tailor the session accordingly.
Creating a Relaxed Environment: I will ensure the space is peaceful, dimly lit, and will play soothing music to enhance the relaxation experience.
Lying Down and Getting Comfortable: You’ll be asked to lie down fully clothed on a massage table. It’s important to wear comfortable clothing as Reiki doesn’t require physical contact (though in some cases, light touch may be used).
Sensing Energy Flow: As the session progresses, you may feel warmth, tingling, or a sense of deep relaxation. Some people experience emotional release or feel a deep sense of peace. It’s common for clients to feel light or floaty, almost like a meditative state.
End of the Session: Once the session concludes, I will let you know that it’s finished, and you can take a few moments to rest before standing up. You may be asked to drink water after the session to help with the energy flow.
After Effects: People often feel relaxed, rejuvenated, or even emotionally lighter after a Reiki session. Some might experience a sense of clarity, while others may go through emotional shifts over the next few days.
